How I Made Over $2500 Posting A Funny Video

When I first got into the video business in 2004, I would post and send people funny videos just for the sake of showing off my video service.  Then as I got busier I forgot about it.  It wasn't until I was working with Blogs that I discovered a way to use the blog to get my video ( or any other content link ) sucked up into both Google and Yahoo.

So one day, I put together this little page with a video from Comedy Central:

After uploading the page & video to my server, I submitted the link to my video blog and it was spidered by Google and Yahoo within a couple hours.

Over the first few days there was a burst of traffic because I had also sent it out to a few of my friends who love to forward funny videos.  Then things got quite.   But about 2 months later I suddenly had a burst of activity on one of my servers and sales that were coming from no where.

I went into my server logs and discovered that I was getting a ton of traffic from a few big blogs and from About.com.  A few bloggers and an editor from About.com had liked the video and picked up on it.  So suddenly, I had made the big time and the peak month I had over 17,000 visitors from that single video.  Amazing!!   Even today, I still get several thousand per month so it can last a long while.

This will not happen with every video, but if you are putting them out there one of them can start hitting at any time!   Best of all, you can entertain your friends while you are waiting for search engine traffic!

Here Is How To Do It!

When someone sends you a funny video, use the first lesson in the video toolkit to post the video to a web page and post it on your website.

Once you have posted online, go into a video blog I've setup at:

http://omcvideoblog.blogspot.com/

First, look to see how I posted my video on the blog.  Then use the following username and password to login and then post the information and link to your video. 

Username:  blogs@onlinemarketingcenter.com

Password:  members2006

Within minutes the link will be spidered by both Google and Yahoo, to make this process even faster your can add our blog's RSS feed to your personalized portals.  Especially MyYahoo and Google Homepage.  If you have google and yahoo email addresses you already have both of these services although you may not know it.  Just go to the link below and click the tag for Google and MyYahoo, the rest is automated.

Even without doing that last step both of these services will spider our blog on a regular basis and the videos will find their way into their search listings much more quickly!
